How can we see in which network the RB900L is actually operating? Is there an AT command? Can we force the RB900L to one of the networks (2G/3G/4G) in case several of these networks are available?

You can check this by AT+COPS? command. Last parameter is "access technology selected" where 0 means GSM, 2 means UTRAN and 7 means E-UTRAN
You can also select the network technology using AT+WS46=x command, below is the description of x parameter:12 - GSM Digital Cellular Systems (GERAN only)22 UTRAN only25 3GPP Systems (GERAN and UTRAN and E-UTRAN) (factory default)28 E-UTRAN only29 GERAN and UTRAN30 GERAN and E-UTRAN31 UTRAN and E-UTRAN
